Temp Range -8° to -14°C / 18° to 7°F
Swix's 5 series waxes made their debut for the 2014-15 ski season but have been available to Swix Servicemen for at least a few season's prior to that.
If you didn't already know, Swix uses a progressive numbering system to give a quantitative reference to a particular wax's hardness with 4 being the hardest & 10 being the softest.
Users of the Swix Wax line were keenly aware of the hardness gap between 4 and 6 and after several years, Swix came out with the 5 series to address that gap.
Swix LF5X is a very durable ski wax which excels in the temp range mentioned above and is much easier to apply and work with than the 4 series products.
Low Fluoro levels in this wax allow it to very effectively repel water & impurities in the snow and the hardness prevents snow crystal penetration of the wax layer - something that can significantly slow a ski down.
As with most Swix waxes, this product excels on its own but can be augmented if use in combination with a Cera F powder overlay in its corresponding temp range such as FC05X.
