General Tips
Swix Recommended Ironing Instructions
Author: RaceWerks.com Staff
According to Swix, the following method is recommended when applying ski wax with any of their waxing specific irons. It is important to keep the iron constantly moving along the base. Overheating the base can cause damage to the polyethylene base material or to the glue and resin bonds within the core. The Swix Waxing Iron and the Swix Digital Waxing Iron have a maximum temperature limit of 165°C (330°F) to help avoid overheating the base. Cera F Powder needs only one or two passes of the iron from tip to tail of 5 to 6 seconds. The Cera Nova Waxes require a slightly longer period of ironing. Make an iron pass along the base from tip to tail of about 12 seconds. Return to the tip each time and continue to make passes with the iron until the board or ski is thoroughly warmed. Four or five time should be sufficient. We recommend following these instructions especially when using both Swix Wax and a Swix Iron. Since the instructions come directly from the manufacturer we trust they know the best techniques for getting the most out of your waxing efforts.
